California: This activity has been approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of 2 hours in the General category. DLA Piper certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed in the rules and regulations of the State Bar of California governing minimum continuing legal education.

New York: This nontransitional and transitional continuing legal education program has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the Continuing Legal Education Board for a maximum of 2.0 credit hours, of which 2.0 credit hours can be applied toward the Professional Practice requirement. Please note that CLE credit is available for newly admitted attorneys. 

New Jersey: This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 2.4 hours of total CLE credit.  Of these, 2.4 qualify as hours of credit toward the General category. 

CLE credit will be applied for in other states where DLA Piper has an office except in Minnesota, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

[Summary] Avoiding and resolving construction and engineering disputes in the Middle East With USD 3.3 trillion* in projects currently planned or underway across the Gulf, the Middle East's construction and engineering sector is synonymous with ambition, innovation, opportunity,  and challenge. This suits the profile of Korean contractors for whom involvement in projects across the Middle East is extensive and increasing.  However, whilst it represents significant commercial opportunity it is not without risk. The on-going commitment to capital investment programmes across the region against a backdrop of low oil revenues is giving rise to liquidity problems and, in turn, we're seeing the number of disputes occurring on projects rapidly increase. In 2015, the Middle East had the highest valued disputes with an average value of US $82 million, and with disputes on average spanning 15.2 months**.   Join us for an insightful presentation in which DLA Piper lawyers, Simon Palmer and Suzannah Newboult, will explore some of the key factors that Korean contractors should take into account when involved in construction and engineering projects in the Middle East and provide practical tips to assist you in avoiding and resolving the disputes that will inevitably arise.
