Title: “Six Burning Topics in Middle East Construction”
Description: Construction projects in the Middle East are currently being buffeted by competing commercial and financial pressures. There is a shortage of liquidity in the region, but also an expectation that complex, cutting edge projects will continue to be progressed regardless.
This situation is set against the backdrop of approaching landmark events and initiatives in the region, such as Expo 2020 in Dubai, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Saudi Vision 2030, all of which are very much in the global public eye, which itself brings pressure to bear for project success.
As a result of these pressures, we are seeing a number of themes arise on construction projects in the Middle East, and in this presentation we will share some of our experiences and learning in relation to six of those themes.
1. Termination 2. Bond Calls 3. Liquidated Damages / Penalties 4. Nominated Subcontractors 5. Decennial Liability 6. Good Faith
