"What In-House Counsels Should Know About Real Estate Investments in the U.S."
Description: Investment in U.S. commercial real estate by non-US investors continues to increase. Representing non-U.S. investor clients on real estate projects in the United States presents challenges for the in-house counsels charged with ensuring that the transactions (1) comply with U.S. regulations, (2) are reasonably structured to limit cost, and (3) generally reflect market practices.
Stephen Cowan, U.S. Head of In-Bound Asian Investments for DLA Piper, will present a program designed to highlight key structuring, regulatory and U.S. tax issues facing non-U.S. investors in connection with real estate projects in the United States such as FIRPTA, PATH Act, FATCA, CFIUS, Patriot Act and KYC.
Speaker: Stephen Cowan (Managing Partner), DLA Piper San Francisco (Bio attached)
